Stars Blink Out: the Struggle for Relevance: Golan v. Holder and SOPA: A Lesson In Civics
A BLOG POST! I haven’t done one of these in what feels like forever. This one’s about how the SOPA protests and the decision today in Golan v. Holder both stand for the same proposition: we need to start holding our congresspeople responsible for the copyright law policies they enact on our behalf. Hope it’s at least somewhat interesting!

DICE 2010: “Design Outside the Box” Presentation Videos - G4tv.com. This is the most interesting video I’ve seen in a really long time. There is a lot of talk about how adding gaming concepts to activities can increase the efficiency of those activities, but this is the first time that I feel like a presenter has fully extrapolated what is going to happen as a result of that kind of thing.

The ending is particularly brilliant, because it suggests some really high-minded philosophical stuff and has a whiff of social change, but then the presenter makes clear that, even if all of that high-minded stuff doesn’t come to pass, the game-ification of reality is GOING to happen.

Televisions are like the Internet, only instead of making stuff, you just look at stuff other people made.
